Having been a hair designer for…yes many years, I want to give you a few of my thoughts on healthy hair.
Let’s start in the right direction from the beginning. Ok, so to trim or not to trim…that is always the question.
Yes, TRIM, TRIM, TRIM! Even if you are growing your hair long, you should still always maintain healthy ends. Let me tell you why. Everything we do to our hair, combing, brushing, styling, and even the environment, all have an effect on our hair. If we do not trim the ends and they become broken or damaged they can split and travel back up each strand. This leads to even more damage and tangles. Then, at this point your hair will continue to split and not get any longer. In fact, over time your hair will actually become shorter as it breaks. If you are afraid of losing length, here is my tip: ask your hair designer to just “dust your ends.” This is what I do for my guests, and then we are both happy. I know because of my maintenance, your hair is healthy and growing and in return you can make your way to long beautiful healthy hair.

Now, let me give the scoop on the product that I am currently in LOVE with for growing your hair long.

Aquage Sea Extend strengthening shampoo and strengthening conditioner. They are filled with all the technical stuff that most of us don’t really care about, however they are amazing. Let me explain in simple terms…they are sulfate free and have sunscreen protection so they start immediately by not allowing any more damage to happen.

The shampoo gently cleanses with an intensive blend of sea silk proteins, and healing sea botanicals. This improves hair strength up to 36% and helps prevent future breakage. The conditioner then follows the same path but also protects against and thermal styling with exclusive Thermal-V complex. Tip: shampoo gently, rinse and follow with strengthening conditioner. However, with the conditioner, apply and then finish your other shower habits so the conditioner can stay on for 5 minutes. This will allow the product to penetrate properly and give your hair ultimate shine leaving it tangle free.

Enjoy these treats and happy growing till your next trim……….just a dusting!

Hello my darlings!

My digital intellect is quite advanced, as you know. I do have the luxury of direct access and a close working relationship to hairstylists across America. In my obsession to please l will gather many answers to your candid questions. I asked hairstylists the infamous question “how much should a client tip?” and their feedback was delightful. Clients no longer have to leave the salon wondering if their stylist was pleased or disappointed by their gesture.

Here is the general response I received from stylists.

Assuming you are pleased with your freshly finished quaff and your stylists attention to detail and social skills are pleasurable a complementary tip would be 15- 20% of your final price. If your hairstylist did something out of the ordinary, Example; spent hours fixing your home color experiment gone wrong (green hair!) a 25-30% tip would adequately express your gratitude.

Stylists revealed that expensive services such as hair extensions can run between $500-$2500 therefore these services are on an entire different scale when it comes to tipping. 20% of a $1500 service would be a $300 dollar tip! Though my stylists are indeed fabulous even they themselves acknowledge this is not easy for most clients. The average tip for a costly extension service ($500+) is between $50-$150 no matter where the final price falls. Hairstylists understand most clients are at the top of their “beauty budget” when receiving hair extensions and that a tip exceeding $150.00 is a very unique gesture.

Another great request stylists made is to never ever make excuses or acknowledge the fact that you are “not tipping” or” tipping just $2 because you think they are expensive to begin with”. Most stylists rather that the dreaded “non tippers” do not create an extra awkward moment by then mentioning it. When you do such things it simply further embarrasses your stylist now that you have confirmed you are doing it intentionally. If you believe their price is too high keep it classy, don’t dare to say such a thing. Simply, choose a stylist that fits comfortably within your budget.
Bear in mind when you extend gratuity to your stylist they will remember your extra efforts next time you need an emergency appointment.

Hope this helps, my friends.

Until next time,

Baby

Dry shampoos work by absorbing the excess dirt and oil that can leave hair looking Greasy and limp. While you would not want to replace liquid shampoo with the dry version altogether, it is a great alternative in emergency beauty.

I can’t tell you how many times dry shampoo has saved my butt! From last minute models showing up with greasy hair, to just refreshing my own do.

How do they work?

Dry shampoos work by absorbing the excess dirt and oil that can leave hair looking Greasy and limp. While you would not want to replace liquid shampoo with the dry version altogether, it is a great alternative in emergency beauty. They are must-have items for the girl on the go!

How to use it.

Follow the manufacture’s instructions of course but in general you lightly spray the roots allowing some overspray to hit the remaining hair. Leave in hair for two minutes, then brush out excess product. Provides a matte finish – if a shinier texture is desired, follow up with your favorite shine spray.

What I’ve found!

I just recently noticed that if you spray freshly washed hair with a bit of dry shampoo after your style is complete blowouts, curls and back-combed sections hold 3X as long!!!

Many companies now make this product.
